Watercolor Birthday

The awards on my blog were so vibrant with color that it made me want to make something bright and cheery so I opted for an orange and yellow card. The Watercolor Trio set arrived just in time to make its debut with this card. I really like this set. I also wanted the ribbon to have orange and yellow in it but had nothing so out came the Only Orange marker and Voila! A white polka dot yellow ribbon with orange trim was born. =]

Inks: Summer Sun, Only Orange, Basic Black, also Stampin' Write Markers in Only Orange, Summer Sun and Certainly Celery

Sunshine Blog Award!

Holy Hefner! I got ANOTHER blog award!!! I am tickled turquoise orange! This one has been sent to me from my friend and upline Penny Thomas at www.penguinstamper.blogspot.com all the way from Katy, Texas! Thank you sooo much for thinking I have a good enough blog for an award, Penny. YOU are special. She also sent one to a fabulous paper crafter Pam at www.sweetpeabunny.blogspot.com . Now that I have 2 awards to brag about I should really be sharing with a couple folks that I think have great blogs. Linda at www.mycreativepossibilities.blogspot.com has some great card ideas on her site so she gets one! Kari at www.stampinessentials.blogspot.com also has great ideas so she gets one, too!
Really, it is amazing what a little pretty square does for me. Thank you, Penny Poo!

Textile Prayers

Unfortunately, I had a sympathy card need come up suddenly. My niece-in-law, Kristy lost her mother figure on Saturday quite unexpectedly. I talked with her a little while today to see how she is doing and she says she is doing as well as can be expected in such a time. She has 2 ADORABLE little children to occupy the down time and she says it is a blessing to have them with her not only for her and her husband (my nephew) but for her Poppa who lost his best friend and companion of 53 years. Kristy says her little 2 year old girl keeps things on an upward beat and makes them laugh when they want to cry. Mimi, as Kristy called her, was a very sweet and giving lady who raised Kristy and provided a good home for her for many years. So, then I have this dilemma of what color, stamp set, what if any (<-- laughing) embellishments, etc., etc. on how to make this rather personal card and this is what I came up with in the only attempt I made and I like it. If you think of anything to add or subtract I am totally open to suggestions! The flowers have a few sparkly stones on them and they blend in a little too well but if you click on the photo it shows up better!

Stamps:
Thoughts and Prayers
Inks:
Basic Gray, Basic Black
Paper:
Basic Gray, Whisper White
Embellishments:
Provo Craft Cuttlebug Textile Embossing Folder, Gray Sticky Rhinestones Sponging

Birthday Dreams

Hello!!! Boy, have I been out of it. I seem to be tired a lot lately so I have been a naughty girl and doing not much more than napping. Today, however, I checked my April cards request and saw that I needed to get busy so here is the birthday card(s) I made today for the remainder of the birthdays on my list. It is a little reminiscent of a card I received from my upline ages ago and when I come across it I will post it so you will be able to see where my inspiration came from on this one.

Stamps:
Sweet Dreams, It's Your Birthday
Inks: Tempting Turquoise, Old Olive, Basic Black
Paper:Flowers For You DSP, Whisper White, Old Olive
Embellishments: Old Olive Grosgrain Ribbon, Fresh Favorites Buttons

Holy Guacamole I got a blog award! I am so proud! I got up this morning and saw where Helen from Let's Create (you can find her blog over on the right in my blog favs) gave me this wonderful gift and I am really just beaming. She received it from a lady in Bulgaria and shared it with 4 of us oh, so lucky bloggers. Amazing what a pretty little square does for me. Thank you so very much Miss Helen! You made my Sunday morning coffee taste so much better. I am floating.

Bluebonnets and Indian Paint Brushes

Wow! Did I go home for a visit at the right time or what? The blue flowers are bluebonnets, which happen to be the state flower of Texas and the orange-y ones are Indian Paint Brushes. So many different and beautiful blooms going on along the highways that I just had to stop and photograph them! Definite sign one is in Texas in the spring when these flowers are in full bloom.
